“Kate has significantly impacted our home and how we live. Her diverse style and ability to work within the architecture’s constraints, while amplifying our personal taste, has transformed a dated interior into a contemporary, relaxed aesthetic that feels like home. We’ve had an amazing experience!”

– Natalia and Ben, homeowners

This couple’s first home has transformed into a contemporary coastal hideaway with polished, minimalist undertones and a laid-back yet luxe vibe. We re-visited in 2021 to to include a new kitchen, butlers pantry and walk in robe.

The interior design story

Since relocating from the inner city for “room to breathe,” this hard-working couple wanted their home to reflect their chic urban aesthetic without reading as clichéd.

Natural materials mingle with layers of textural linen, chunky cotton, timber, raw brick and rattan with brass accents that add a luxe factor. Stormy greys and inky shades of blue were informed by the couple’s enviable art collection that punctuates the home. To balance this with a sense of calm, fresh neutral tones highlight the existing architecture in harmony with the relaxed coastal surrounds.

Ensuring home life with Richie, the chocolate Labrador is easy care and low maintenance, pet-friendly rugs and fabrics flow through the home. The outdoor entertaining area is a favourite place to connect with friends and enjoy the magical Pittwater view together over a sundowner.

In 2021, KMI was invited back for Phase 2 - the scope included a new kitchen, butlers pantry and walk in robe. An external wall was removed to make way for bi-fold doors for easy entertaining from the new kitchen. The kitchen was re-oriented to enable better functionality and flow; to enable home cook Ben to whip up family meals in style. The tiny laundry was transformed to include a stylish butlers pantry, a smart use of space with cleverly concealed appliances, LED lighting and storage. Natalia’s dream of a luxurious walk in robe became a reality with a place for everything. The newest addition, Baby Charlie arrived in 2022 just as construction wrapped!
